Mimi Arnstein, Farm Manager
“Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.” Despite the obvious pitfalls of pursuing a line of work in which one tries to control nature (a frustrating battle unless one learns to go with the flow), I feel grateful every day for the opportunity to grow food for my community. Now entering my eighth season on this magical land, I’m pleased to report that many aspects of farming have gotten easier. Thanks to our CSA members and community supporters for keeping this land in active agriculture and for enjoying the fruits of our labor. Mimi’s favorite tools: large cheater bars, mini sledgehammer, Allis Chalmers G cultivating tractor, wood-fired hot tub at the end of a long day. |

Nathaniel Emmons, Farmer Apprentice
I have traveled and lived in many different places, but Vermont has and will always be my home. I enjoy exploring, hiking, climbing, swimming, surfing, eating, cooking, and spending time with my dog Sasha, "the sausage bear". I am very excited to be back in Vermont, spending my days working hard in the fields. |

Caroline Rose, mid-season apprentice
The product of a Southern belle and a Yankee, split between the city and the country, and a lover of both cats and dogs, there are always two sides to Caroline Rose. A soon-to-be senior at Wellesley College, Caroline is fixing to take a break from the textbooks and get her hands dirty in some good ol' Vermont soil. After spending the past summer recording a CD in the Vermont countryside, Caroline fell in love with the state and its way of life and, may or may not, ever go back to her home on Long Island. Her other interests, passions, and/or hobbies include writing music, street busking, fire truck red, Southern fiction, the sound of an Irish fiddle, and taking trips without any maps, plans, or money. She likes to wake up to Johnny Cash and finds that the key to life lies somewhere in this motto: "Good food, good beer, good music, good people." |

Flora Jestice, Wednesday working member
When her two boys aren’t chasing her around, Flora is working as a Certified Lactation Consultant. She loves that breastmilk is local, organic, raw and environmentally friendly! She also enjoys playing traditional music with friends, and experimenting in the kitchen. Flora has been a working member for 2 years and a volunteer member the year before that. She finds weeding meditative which is part of what makes her such a good farm worker! |

Mike Keenan and daughter Lilah, Montpelier Distribution working member
My name is Mike Keenan and my wife is Jeri. We live in the village of Plainfield with our children, Bob, Lilah, Zarah and Moriah. We have been members of Wellspring Farm since 2004 and enjoy the people and the awesome organic vegetables that the farm provides for us. Lilah and I thoroughly enjoy distributing the vegetables to the Montpelier site on Thursdays. We look forward to a bountiful and splendid growing season. We look forward to spending time visiting with all of you this summer. And don’t forget to grab yourself a slice of yellow watermelon. |

Marisa Keller - working member
I am only a first-generation Vermonter, but this place is very much a part of me. I've just graduated from Earlham College in Indiana, where I studied languages and linguistics. Now I live in Montpelier, making a living as a baker and a harpist and getting covered in good Vermont dirt once a week at Wellspring. I grew up working with my dad as a member of the Intervale Community Farm in Burlington, and my favorite fresh vegetables are and have always been cucumbers and green beans. |
